Six Veterans Awarded Tickets to Travis Tritt at Jim Bass

SAN ANGELO, TX- Yesterday afternoon, six veterans were awarded tickets to the Travis Tritt concert on Jan. 10, 2017. Although, only six veterans were awarded these tickets, many more came to Jim Bass Ford, 4032 W. Houston Harte Expy., to show their support.

Each veteran who attended this giveaway fought for the freedom of American citizens and were proud to show it. They explained in what force they served in, for how long and where they were deployed.

The Texas Veterans for Veterans Association awarded these tickets to the Travis Tritt concert to honor the veterans' service.

“We are Texas veterans who are dedicated to serving veterans and their families in our community throughout Texas," said the Associatin's website. "We have proudly served our country in foreign wars ranging from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, The Gulf War (Desert Storm) to Iraq and Afghanistan (Iraqi Freedom).

John Bass, a partner of Jim Bass Ford, explained that the dealership is helping sponsor the Travis Tritt concert.

Bass said, “The Veterans for Veterans came up with some tickets [for the concert]. They decided who won them, and we just presented the tickets to the veterans.”

When asked how he felt when hearing the veterans' stories and the places they have served, Bass responded, “It humbles you to realize that they spent so much of their life defending our country and providing us the freedoms that we enjoy.”

After the Vietnam war, many veterans didn't get the honor they deserved, which was mentioned at Thursday's event.

“You can never make up for the lost time. The world was different back then," said Bass. "I think now they're (American citizens) hopefully realizing some respect that [veterans] are due.”
