San Angelo Texas Park and Wildlife to Host Christmas in the State Park

SAN ANGELO, TX- A new family tradition is starting in San Angelo. The Texas Parks & Wildlife and Friends of San Angelo State Park are kicking off Christmas in the State Park (CSP) starting today at 2 p.m. It will run until 8:30 p.m.

Free and open to the public, CSP will have plenty of fun activities for kids of all ages. Park Superintendent Kurt Kemp said, “It’s a first-time event for us, so hopefully it will turn into something big.”

Activities held during CSP will include:

  • Longhorn/Bison tour
  • Decorating Longhorn and Bison cinnamon-scented ornaments
  • Drinking hot chocolate and eating cookies with Santa around the campfire
  • Campground light tour

Kemp explained, “We’re going to have our cowboy Santa Claus telling ‘A Night Before Christmas’ story for the kids.”

After campfire stories from Santa, Kemp added, “After dark, we’re going to load up and judge Christmas lights for trailers that are decorated with Christmas lights. Hopefully, some of our campers are going to decorate their trailers and trailer spots.”

Kemp explained that CSP is a new, up and coming event for San Angeloans. He encourages children to come join in the festivities and get into the Christmas spirit.

“[Since] it is getting close to Christmas, [CSP] will help everyone get into the holiday spirit. We’re trying to get our campers into the holiday spirit and offer something for the kids and bring people out to the park,” Kemp said.
