Texas Parks and Wildlife Stock Concho River with Trout for Winter

SAN ANGELO, TX – Texas Parks and Wildlife stocked the Concho River with Rainbow trout today from the Possum Kingdom Fish Hatchery.

Courtney Thompson, Texas Parks & Wildlife, placed 678 trout in the river. The fish were 245 mm which comes out to around 10-11 inches per fish.

She mentioned during the winter season fish stop feeding and are harder to catch. Texas Parks  & Wildlife wanted to place trout into the rivers so those people who fish may continue through the winter. The same process is done in the summer with catfish.

John Hernandez said he has been coming to see this process annually and enjoys getting to see families enjoy fishing in the river.

“I enjoy having the parents bring their kids out here and getting to watch them fish and have a good time,” Hernandez said.
