Win a Free Turkey Tonight with the Kids

SAN ANGELO, TX – This evening, the City of San Angelo and the South Side Recreational Center will be hosting their annual Turkey Shoot, a competition in which families can win a free turkey. Ages 4 and up are welcome to attend.

The Turkey Shoot is a competition for age divisions 4-5, 6-8, 9-12, 13-15, and 16 and older. The competitors of each age division will participate in a basketball free throw consisting of 5 shots. The competitor who shoots the most hoops will win. Should several competitors tie, each will be given 3 additional shots until one has scored 2. Diana Faulkner, recreation supervisor at the city’s Parks and Recreation, urges families “to be there before 6 to register” as the event is scheduled to start promptly at 6 p.m.

Pies will be given to second place winners in all divisions. This year, families can also participate in a raffle give away. This year’s raffle prizes include one season pass to a local swimming pool for a family of four and one sponsored private pool party, both of which are valued at around $250. Other possible raffle prizes are a birthday party at the Nature Center, and one family membership to theNature Center.

Faulkner said that this event is held in order to “give everybody a chance to win a turkey for [their] Thanksgiving dinner.”  The event, scheduled to last one hour, will take place at the Southside Recreational Center located at 2750 Ben Ficklin Road. The event is open to the public and free of charge. For more information, please visit cosatx.us/recreation.
