Fire Marshal Truett Retires After Nearly 40 Years of Service

 

SAN ANGELO, TX - Today, the City of San Angelo held a retirement party for Fire Marshal Thomas Truett, who has been with the San Angelo community for almost 40 years. Truett joined the department in March of 1977.

A dedicated public servant, Truett leaves behind a long legacy of knowledge and dedication in his department. Many agreed today that Truett worked very hard throughout his career to ensure the the best service possible for the citizens of San Angelo.

‘I’ve enjoyed working in the community of San Angelo,” Truett said. “We work together to make our lives safer and our communities safer.”

An expert on the fire code and in fire prevention, Truett has worked hard through his entire career in teaching the people of the Concho Valley how to lead safer lives. His work in fire prevention has also been invaluable for the community. San Angelo Fire Chief Dunn recalled learning about the subject from Truett while he underwent his training for SAFD.

“He’s done a fantastic job of working with the citizens of San Angelo,” said Fire Chief Dunn. "He’s going to be missed.”

Truett is very involved in the community, both as a worker for the city and as citizen. This year marks the 40th year he has accepted the proclamation for Fire Prevention Week from City Council. He is also involved in the Rotary Club and Lions Club, and is an avid supporter of Angelo State University.

“He’s fantastic; he does a lot of stuff out in the community. We are really going to miss him,” said Fire Marshal Jackson said. “He’s taking a great personality as well as a lot of experience.”
