If you're a softball fan and looking for something to do this evening, gather up your friends and family and head on over to the Texas Bank Sports Complex on Bell Street. As the weekend nears, the Texas Police Games are coming to a close as well. All week, active duty and retired law enforcement officers, firefighters, and military have competed in a variety of sports, see story here, but this event is perhaps the highlight of the competitions.
Sgt. Cade Solsbery, committee member for the events and public information officer for the San Angelo Police Department, said, "As part of the Texas Police Games, we will be having a kids softball game in memory of Sgt. Kennedy. The game will be played tonight, June 17, at 7:00 pm. Korby's daughter Emily will be playing, and this will be a way for her to honor her dad. The teams will be Korby's Krushers and Emily's Eliminators." Solsbery added that the game will be at quad 2 field 3.
Many of the competitions held this week were during most citizens regular work hours (during the day), but for this event, Sgt. Solsbery said, "All events are open to the public to come and watch, and we encourage all to attend and support the competitors."
