Two structures burned to the ground, and one received damage after an early morning fire in the 300 block of E. 27th St.
Ross Coleman, San Angelo Fire Marshal, said shortly after 2 a.m. this morning, firefighters responded to a structure fire in the area. When they arrived, San Angelo firefighters came upon a double-wide trailer that was fully engulfed in flames.
As a result of that fire radiating heat, it caused a second fire to the house located on the east, which caused partial damage, and the fire spread to the west and fully encompassed a single-wide mobile home, said Coleman.
“So two structures are completely destroyed, and right now the investigation continues. We are labeling the fire as suspicious,” said the Fire Marshal.
Coleman said he got on scene sometime after 2:30 a.m., and he and his team just completed their on-scene portion of the investigation at 11 a.m.
During the battling of the blaze, firefighters ran into some issues. SAFD Chief Long said firefighters had no water supply for “a little while,” which delayed firefighting efforts.
Chief Long said there were no injuries reported. About 25 – 30 firefighters battled the blaze.
Also, the houses adjacent to the fire were evacuated. Coleman said the two structures that burned to the ground were uninhabited, and had no utilities running. The third house to receive damage, however, did have utilities running and was occupied.
The Fire Marshal said he put up two signs, one in English and Spanish, at the location with a contact number to call if anyone has information on this fire. People with viable information that leads to solving this investigation could receive a reward up to $1,000.
