A press release Tuesday announced that the San Angelo ISD school board unanimously approved the hiring of Dr. Jana Rueter as the new Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction at the March 28 board meeting. Rueter will officially join the district July 1, 2016.
Dr. Rueter, a graduate of SAISD’s Central High School, earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Tech University and Master of Education in Educational Administration from Texas A&M. Her doctorate in Educational Administration and Superintendency is from the University of Texas.
Among her professional affiliations are the designations of Texas Association of School Administrators Leadership Fellow, Region 13 President and Curriculum Academy X Fellow of the Texas Association of Curriculum and Development Association, and a Schlechty Center Coaching for Design Administrative Cohort.
Dr. Rueter has served for the past seven years at Georgetown ISD, where she is currently the Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
Her career spans over twenty years of public education service, with executive level administration experience in such positions as supervisor of campus principals, management of federal programs, district strategic plan development, the TASA Curriculum Audit, and the development and implementation of a district curriculum management plan. Previously, she has served as a campus leader and administrator in Conroe ISD, Pflugerville ISD, and Leander ISD.
SAISD Superintendent Dr. Carl Dethloff stated, “Dr. Rueter brings experience as a district level administrator, principal, and curriculum specialist to our school system. She is well respected in statewide curriculum circles as an innovative leader that values collaboration. There is no doubt that she will help SAISD take our next instructional step forward in creating the future-ready students we envision. We welcome her and her family back home to San Angelo.”
