A press release today announced that the Angelo State University Concert Chorale will present a free concert to the public. The concert is titled “La Dolce Vita: The Romance of Italy”. The performance will begin Thursday, March 31, at 7:30 p.m. in the Cactus Hotel, 36 E. Twohig Ave.
Dr. Pamela Lee, ASU director of choral activities since 1994, will conduct the concert.
The Concert Chorale will also be accompanied by the Permian Basin Quartet and ASU staff accompanist Dr. Michael Yenny. ASU baritone Dr. Scott Raines and alumna Patti Wetzel, soprano, will perform duets from Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” and “Cinema Paradiso.”
Additional selections will include Renaissance madrigals by Gastoldi and Banchieri, romantic 19th century opera chorus from “I Pagliacci” by Leoncavallo and “La Traviata” by Verdi, Neapolitan art songs by De Curtis and Tosti, and award-winning film scores by Mancini and Rota.
