City of San Angelo's project engineer, Joe Mangrem, has been promoted to assistant city engineer, said a press release Wednesday.
In addition to assisting City Engineer Russell Pehl in the administration of the Engineering Services division, Mangrem will perform engineering work in land development, engineering design and construction oversight of public work projects and management for major engineering design projects.
Mangrem earned his bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Texas A & M University in 2010, and joined the City as a project engineer in January 2014. According to the press release, he has since designed and managed water utility capital improvement projects; prepared plans, specifications and cost estimates for public infrastructure improvements; reviewed proposed development plans and provided feedback for developers; and assisted co-workers with street and drainage projects.
Previously, Mangrem worked as a civil engineering associate with the City of Lubbock and as an engineering assistant with Galindo Engineers and Planners, Inc. of Bryan.
Mangrem stated, "We're all aware of the need to improve San Angelo's streets, its drainage and its water infrastructure." He added, "Between the City Council's commitment to meaningfully address those issues and the continued growth of our community, it's an exciting time to be working for the City as an engineer. I'm excited about the opportunity to serve in a higher capacity."
