On Saturday, Oct. 31, before area residents take their kids out trick or treating, they can take a drive and spend a little time with nature at the San Angelo State Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., said a Texas Parks & Wildlife press release Tuesday.
The San Angelo State Park will be offering free admission to encourage “friends and neighbors” to go out and visit the O.C. Fisher Reservoir because water levels are rising thanks to the recent rains north of San Angelo. The run-off that filled the banks of the North Concho River has flowed into O.C. Fisher.
According to the press release, San Angelo State Park opened May 1, 1995 at O.C. Fisher Reservoir. Over the past years, the park has experienced many changes, including an extensive trails system for hikers, bikers and equestrians. The Park is also home to the largest part of the Official Texas State Longhorn herd, and it also has bison herd.
