City Videographer Lands Three More State Awards

The City of San Angelo’s Public Information Office has won three more statewide awards for its programming on SATV.

On Friday, Oct. 16, at the annual conference of the Texas Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors, San Angelo earned:

• A second-place award in the Documentary category for a seven-minute video about Fort Concho re-enactors marching in Gov. Greg Abbott’s inaugural parade. In June, the same video won a second-place award for Best Special or One-Time Program in the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers’ statewide competition.
• A third-place award in the Documentary category for a 17-minute video about a day in the life of the San Angelo Fire Department’s B shift.
• A third-place award in the Event Coverage category for coverage of the San Angelo Stock Show & Rodeo.

The programming was originally broadcast on SATV, the City’s government access channel on Suddenlink cable channel 17. The videos can still be watched on the City’s YouTube channel at youtube.com/CityofSanAngeloTx.

This is the third straight year the Public Information Office has won awards in TATOA’s statewide video competition.

“We strive for excellence, and awards are wonderful,” said Multimedia Coordinator Brian Groves, who is responsible for the programming on SATV. “But the greater satisfaction comes from hearing how much our citizens enjoy and appreciate the opportunity to learn about their municipal government through engaging video programming. That’s the best.”

TATOA is a professional organization of those responsible for telecommunication policies, services and video programming in local governments.
