The San Angelo Retiree Associate Bestows Electronic Bugle to Police Honor Guard

Thanks to the generosity of the San Angelo Retiree Officer Association, the San Angelo Police Department’s Honor Guard has a new instrument, said Tracy Gonzalez, public information officer for SAPD, in a press release Thursday.

According to the press release, members of the Association presented Sergeant Daniel Williams and Police Chief Tim Vasquez with an electronic bugle during the group’s monthly breakfast gathering.

“The bugle will be used to play Taps and other songs during various Honor Guard duties when a bugler is unavailable,” Gonzalez said.

Additionally, members donated the money for the bugle, which cost approximately $600.

As of today, the Retiree Officer Association has 135 members from various civilian and military law enforcement backgrounds. Members enjoy a monthly breakfast on the first Wednesday of each month at Gil’s Restaurant in San Angelo, and the Association is open to all retired law enforcement.
