Structure Fire on Bell St.

A structure fire in the 1400 block of Bell St. at a local trucking company has traffic traveling north blocked.

The San Angelo Fire Department has extinguished flames from the structure and it appears that the electricity to the barn sized sheet metal building has been turned off. A journeyman was observed climbing a pole and disconnecting wires.

SAFD Fire Marshal is investigating at the moment.

LIVE! is on the scene and will report more as details emerge.

UPDATE

At approximately 11:50 a.m. SAFD made a full response to the 1400 of Bell St. A full response means that it required 21 to 24 firefighters and several fire trucks. Firefighters made a defensive attack on the structure because of combustibles in the area. It took about 30 minutes to fully extinguish the fire from the time it was reported.

“It was a welding accident,” Fire Marshal Ross Coleman said. “He was cutting part of a truck and it got out of control, and the fire took off.”

No injuries were reported.
