Frequent flyer Jim Dick has been a TSA Pre check (with a check mark) customer since the beginning of the program, three years ago. “I came through Atlanta yesterday morning, and even though the line was long it only took about ten minutes to get through, and in Atlanta, Monday morning is about as busy as it can be,” he said. Dick says he registered in Atlanta where he paid an $85 non-refundable fee and provided copies of his passport, identification and fingerprints. “It took maybe two weeks to get the approval, and it made my life a lot easier traveling.”
“We are here at San Angelo Airport today to roll out TSA Pre check , it’s an expedited screening program that you can apply for ,” said TSA representative Carrie Harmon. “If enrolled in the program you get to keep your shoes on, your belt, a light jacket, you don’t have to take your computer out of its case, and you can leave your little 3-1-1 baggie full of liquids and gels in your carry -on bag as well.”
In order to apply for the program you must make an appointment or walk into a TSA pre check application center. In Texas you will need to visit Dallas DFW or Austin International Airport to apply in person. You can pre-enroll on the website before your appointment, and view all of the eligibility requirements and restrictions. There are certain restrictions that would result in the denial of a TSA pre check pass, like being convicted of a sexual offense, assault with intent to kill, robbery, etc.
