Meals For The Elderly is closed TODAY, Friday, February 27th due to the slick and icy conditions of roadways and sidewalks making it unsafe for door-to-door meal delivery and travel. The office will be open again Monday, March 2nd, with regular business hours.
Seniors received emergency meals yesterday for use today if the weather made roads dangerous for travel. Meals For The Elderly clients receive a frozen meal of the same tasty, nutritious food they are delivered each weekday to heat up in a microwave. Meals For The Elderly clients receive emergency meal kits each year to use in case of bad weather which hold several meals’ worth of non-perishable food items as well to prepare them for inclement weather. The safety of clients as well as volunteers and staff is a top priority for Meals For The Elderly.
Anytime SAISD closes due to bad weather, Meals For The Elderly also closes; in cases of delay, the MFTE leadership will determine if roads and sidewalks will be safe for delivery that day.
