Deadline Remains In Effect For Filing of City Council Candidacy

 

Today's deadline for filing of City Council candidacy will remain at the  designated 5p.m. cut off, despite the fact that all city offices are closed due to weather conditions.

A press release by city Public Information Officer Anthony Wilson says that the filing deadline can not be extended per state law. According to the Secretary of State's Office, there is no provision in state election law that allows for extending filing periods.

However, applications for candidacy will be accepted through the City Clek's office via fax at (325) 657-4553 until the deadline at  5p.m. All applications must be complete and notarized. Candidate packets containing the necessary applications and information in order to file can be acquired online at cosatx.us/May2015.

District seats 2,4, and 6 will appear on the ballot in the upcoming May election. City Council terms are two years long.

So far the candidates are as follows: Mayor- Dwain Morrison and David Russell Nowlin, District 2- Marty Self, District 4- Andrew Justis and Lucy Gonzales , and District 6- Charlotte Farmer
