AEP Works to Restore Power to West and North San Angelo

A large power outage has been reported in San Angelo, affecting approximately 4,210 customers in the College Hills and north San Angelo areas.

Fred Hernandez, AEP Texas Manager of Community Affairs, said that the cold weather caused a transmission line to fail between the College Hills substation and the north San Angelo substation.

The outage occurred at 10:35 a.m., but crews are currently en route.

"I feel confident that we'll be able to switch some of our sources of power from other areas and restore power to some of those customers soon," Hernandez said. He did not yet have a definitive timeline for the power restoration.

Power outages should not be reported to 911. Those with an outage should call 866-223-8508.

San Angelo police advise motorists to drive with care and to approach non-fuctioning stoplights as stop signs.
