Monday Afternoon Structure Fire on 24th Street

The San Angelo Fire Department responded to a structure fire at the 200 block of W. 24th Street. It appears that a building or shed in the back is on fire, as you can see visible smoke pouring out from behind the house. The call rang out at approximately 2.45 p.m. Monday afternoon.

Engine 6, Ladder 1, Fire Rescue, and Medic 10 responded to the scene.

We will have updates as they happen here.

Update 3:35 p.m.

Battalion Chief Royce Owen briefed us on the fire. He said that the fire was contained to what he termed an “out” building behind the main structure.

“Three engines responded and quickly extinguished the fire,” he said.

Royce said that it appeared that someone was living in the out building. It had no electricity, but there was a garden hose running into the building’s interior.

No one was inside the building when the firemen arrived.

The cause will remain under investigation. The structure is a total loss.
