The Lake Nasworthy Homeowners Association is encouraging public participation during a daylong cleanup it is sponsoring of the lake’s waters and banks on Saturday, June 28.
Dumpsters, provided by Republic Services, will be available at six locations around Nasworthy for dumping the trash and debris collected. Those locations are:
- South Concho Drive’s low-water crossing.
- Middle Concho Park.
- Spring Creek Marina.
- Hot Water Slough Park.
- Beaty Road boat ramp.
- Mary E. Lee Park.
From 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., volunteers from the homeowners association will be assisting participants with loading and unloading at the dumpsters. They will also be handing out free trash bags for the endeavor at each location.
Recent rains have washed an influx of debris into Lake Nasworthy, including logs, vegetation, bottles and other trash, the combination of which results in safety risks and eyesores. The homeowners association is aiming to clean the lake prior to Fourth of July festivities, including its annual fireworks spectacular, which this year is themed “For Love of Country.”
The homeowners hope other San Angeloans will bring their boats, kayaks, canoes and jet skis to clean debris from the water, or walk the banks and park areas picking up trash.
“Let’s work together to keep boating safe and fun, and to clean up our beautiful lake and improve our precious water quality,” homeowners association board member Trinidad Aguirre said.
