The Central high school band just returned from South Padre where they were selected as the First place band in class, received all first division ratings, and was chosen as the overall outstanding band of the competition. The band also received the coveted UIL Sweepstakes award this year for superior ratings in Marching and Concert competitions. The Bobcat percussion line won at all competitions this year and the color guard also won at district coming in 3rd at regionals.
The Bobcat band will be sending 74 students that qualified to compete in the UIL state solo contest at the University of Texas-Austin on May 24
Central bands will be presented in their final concert of the year on Thursday, May 22, 6:30 p.m. at the River stage in San Angelo.
The band is currently raising funds to attend and perform in the Russell Athletic Bowl in Orlando, Florida this coming year. The band was selected from over 100 band applicants and was chosen as the Texas Representative band to perform at the Russell Athletic Bowl game.
The band is directed by Joey Ashbrook.
