FD Rescue Frees Trapped Driver on Sherwood Way

 

A San Angelo Fire Department rescue crew extracted the driver of a white Chevrolet Cobalt who was trapped in his vehicle after a collision with a white Lexus SUV in the 4500 block of Sherwood Way near Lin’s Buffet around 1:25 p.m., blocking traffic in the westbound lanes.

The vehicle was moved out of traffic into the parking lot of Lin’s where the extraction process could take place without hindering the flow of traffic. After successfully freeing the man from the car he was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

The cobalt was leaving the McAllister’s Deli parking lot when the Lexus driving eastbound on Sherwood way and collided with the cobalt on the driver’s side.

Investigating Officer Jimmy Byrne, SAPD, said all parties were wearing seat belts and the Cobalt's driver was consious when he was placed in the ambulance.

The driver of the Lexus is Lauren Caldwell, 38.

No further details were available as the accident is still under investigation.
