The San Angelo Fire Department responded to what was characterized on the radio as a fire involving the "entire building." On the scene, a significant amount of smoke could be seen pouring out of the back of the building but no flames.
The battalion chief Ricky Long gave the news media an update. According to the brief, a fire was ablaze in one room in the back part of the house. The fire was extinguished quickly and the Fire Marshal is investigating its cause. "We caught this one early, thankfully," said the chief. No one was hurt.
"Engine 5 put the fire out in 30 seconds when they arrived on the scene. Right now, were standing by and investigating," the battalion chief said.
The fire was located in the back room that may have been a remodeled garage. Inside, a fire was localized to a table top. "It could have been a cigarette, or anything else," the Fire Inspector Ross said.
