Jim Bass Ford Employees Deliver Bikes to the Barrio

Employees of Jim Bass Cars and Trucks, the San Angelo Ford dealership, adopted Christmas in the Barrio last year as a special Christmas project. Their goal was to collect bicycles and coats for less fortunate San Angelo children. Their plan was modest, announcing the amount of donations "in the dozens."

Friday, Jim Bass, along with employees of the auto dealership presented to Christmas in the Barrio coordinator Phillip Valadez 105 brand new bicycles and 35 new coats. The bikes and coats were donated by Jim Bass employees and by several customers. The collection of the bikes and coats was accomplished over a three week period.

"The program was initiated by several of our managers, because they wanted to give something back to the community for Christmas instead of just exchanging Christmas gifts with one another," Laura Sosa, director of marketing said. The Jim Bass managers discovered Valadez's program and thought it would be a great fit for a Christmas charity.
