Zada Décor on 102 N. Chadbourne is the home of handmade art and furniture from Indonesia, Peru, Turkey, and Hawaii.
Owners Eddie and Lisa Shell personally selected all the furniture in their store, “We buy things we love, so if it doesn’t sell, we keep it,” Lisa explained.
The idea for Zada Décor didn’t bloom overnight, but the seed was planted when the couple visited a relative in Hawaii, and fell in love with the beautiful Indonesian art he furnished his house with.
Soon after, the Shells packed their bags and flew to Bali, Indonesia for the shopping spree of their life.
Quickly it became apparent that they were buying more than they could ever furnish one house with.
The Shells arrived back in the states with a shipping container full of goods, nowhere to store it, and the idea to sell and share their experience with San Angelo.
In no time they rented their building on 102 Chadbourne and stocked it with their purchases, and thus Zada Décor was born.
Now, every year the Shells visit an exotic location to add to their store’s growing collection.
In fact, the Shells just got back from a two-week trip to Bali, bargaining and ordering unique, handmade goods from the local artisans, “If you can think it, they can build it,” said Eddie Shell.
The word Zada means prosperous or lucky, and it’s evident that the venture has been prosperous, “In the first quarter we doubled our sales from last year,” said Eddie.
Zada Décor participates in the Art Walk every third Thursday, and they are open Thursday through Saturday.
