San Angelo Rodeo Preshow to Performance 3

SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo, which commenced on April 5 and runs until April 19, has already showcased some outstanding performances across various rodeo events. With competitors from all over the country, the event has seen intense competition and impressive skills on display.

In the bareback riding category, Cooper Cooke took the lead with an 88.5-point ride on Korkow Rodeo’s Buffalo Soldier, setting the pace for the event. Ethan Mazurenko and Cole Franks followed closely with scores of 86 and 83.5 points, respectively.

The steer wrestling event was equally competitive, with Jacob Edler leading the first round with a remarkable time of 3.6 seconds. Cole Walker and Stetson Jorgensen were not far behind, clocking in at 3.7 and 3.8 seconds, respectively. Walker also leads the average with a combined time of 8.7 seconds over two runs.

Team roping first round leaders Brady Tryan and Calgary Smith clocked in at 4.1 seconds, while Chace Thompson and Chad Williams led the second round with an impressive 3.7 seconds. James Arviso and J.R. Gonzalez currently lead the average with 8.7 seconds over two runs.

Saddle bronc riding saw Jake Watson scoring 82.5 points on Macza Pro Rodeo’s Yellow Jacket, leading the event. Tegan Smith and Jarrod Hammons followed closely with scores of 81 and 80 points, respectively.

In tie-down roping, Riley Webb led the first round with a swift 6.9 seconds. Marty Yates, with a combined time of 15.5 seconds over two runs, leads the average. The competition remains tight as contestants vie for top honors.

The breakaway roping and barrel racing events have also seen remarkable performances. Alli Masters led the breakaway roping with a time of 2.3 seconds, while Paige Jones stands out in barrel racing with a combined time of 30.78 seconds over two runs.

Bull riding highlighted J.R. Stratford’s exceptional 90-point ride on Pete Carr Pro Rodeo’s Bruised Kitty, leading the pack with the highest score in the event so far.
