WATCH: Chihuahua’s Honky Tonk Cowboy

SAN ANGELO, TX — The best act at the Buffalo Social Club during the weekend at the 91st San Angelo Rodeo was Mexican-born "Texas" Country Star, George Navarro.

Navarro was born in Chihuahua, Mexico. Despite being surrounded by Norteño, he was determined to make it as a country music star.

Among his biggest influences was George’s father. As a child, Navarro’s dad would introduce him to performers like the band America, the Eagles, Willie Nelson, and Alan Jackson.

Before his big show on Saturday night, Navarro told San Angelo LIVE! in an interview how those routes in Chihuahua would lead him to perform at his first American Rodeo Performance in San Angelo.  If you like William Beckmann, you'll love Navarro. They are on similar paths.

This human interest piece is presented by Angelo MRI.
