RODEO: Cowboys Stomped and Flipped on Saturday Night
SAN ANGELO, TX — The Animals wanted no part of the Cowboys in the 8th Performance during the 91st Annual San Angelo Rodeo. Several of the competitors found out the hard way during the Saddle Bronc Riding and Bull Riding.
Tyler Pruitt landed square on his tail after an angry Bronco tossed him to the ground. Ryder Sandford then did his best impression of a dolphin dive when his Bronco decided he overstayed his welcome. Logan Cook was the final victim to fall to the Broncos. After “Jackpot” ejected Cook from its back, the bronc gave him a lasting impression when it stepped on Cook’s head. Luckily it was only a glancing blow and mostly missed. Medical personnel helped Cook to his feet, and the Cowboy walked off under his own power.
In the Bull Riding, events followed the same beat. The Bull, “Let’s Go Brandon,” came to dance and flipped his partner Bryce Burnell through the air. Even the World Champion Bull Rider, Sage Kimzey, had trouble. Kimzey, who usually scores in the high 80’s, only managed an 82.5. However, he was the only Cowboy to post a qualifying ride, so we will see him again in the Finals.
San Angelo LIVE!’s Matt Trammell caught up with Kimzey after the only qualifying bull ride to ask the secret to his success. It’s the Bull Riding, presented by First Financial Bank.
