The Race Against the Clock at the 2023 Rodeo

SAN ANGELO, TX — It was a race against time on Thursday night at the 5th performance at the 91st Annual San Angelo Rodeo. The race began in Bareback Riding as wild horses looked to kick their cowboys off their backs before that 8-second bell. Lucky for the fans in attendance, these Cowboys tonight had a single-track mind. Winning.

One cowboy in particular, Jasek Lane Frost. Named after the infamous cowboy Lane Frost, showed the crowd how it's done, scoring a colossal 84.5 points. That ride tied him for the number three spot overall.

Later we moved into Tie-Down Roping. Clock ticking and the pressure on, the Cowboys had to finish in the 7-second range for a chance at the Top 12. A Panhandle Cowboy named Quade Hiatt beat the clock with an impressive score of 7.9. The fourth fastest time in round one, He will be back this weekend to try his luck at number one in the average.

San Angelo LIVE!'s Matt Trammell caught up with Hiatt after his event to talk about his big throw. It's Tie Down Roping, presented by the Clarion Hotel.
