How Rodeo and Politics Run Hand in Hand in Rodeo
SAN ANGELO, TX — America and the Rodeo. Believe it or not, the two have a lot in common, with two sides and chaos in the middle. The Left of the Right? Which side do you sit on? For the bull riders in the 4th performance of the San Angelo Rodeo, they sat all over the place, but mainly on the ground. Feisty bulls with no give landed liberal rope holders on their backsides prior to the 8-second buzzer.
Arizona cowboy JC Mortensen shocked the crowd when he made it out alive. He went toe to toe with “Too Cool.” However, Mortensen proved too hot for “Too Cool” and landed an 85.5-point ride. He now sits in the Top 3 overall in the Rodeo.
Just like Bull Riding, the polls were out today in the Saddle Broncs. We fell asleep thinking that the broncs would win out with scores in the low 70s and riders hitting the ground hard. However, when we woke up the next morning, we discovered that Wyoming cowboy Brody Cress stole the show with an insane 87.5-point ride on the back of “Spotted Charm.”
San Angelo LIVE’s Matt Trammell caught up with Cress after the show to talk about the big day. Watch the full interview here. It’s Saddle Bronc Riding, presented by Indeco Industrial Electric.
