The Fastest Barrel Race of the 2021 San Angelo Rodeo That Wasn't Enough

SAN ANGELO, TX — It was a former San Angelo Rodeo bareback riding champ that showed us how it was done on Friday night during the Short Go Finals.

The 2019 San Angelo bareback riding champ Caleb Bennett showed us why he's won over a million and a half as a rodeo man. Riding a bull named Faded Night for 89 points earned the 7-time NFR qualifier his second win in here in the last 3 years.

In barrel racing, Carly Taylor got it going with a 14.07-second time. Her time looked tough to beat until the fastest barrel racer of the rodeo, Dona Kay Rule chimed in with a 14.07-second run of her own. It looked like a title for Rule until Wenda Johnson happened. Her 14.09-second time gave her the win. Her collection of 3 runs of 44.01 seconds clinched her a check for over $8,300 and the 2021 barrel racing championship in San Angelo.

Although Carly Taylor didn't snag a barrel racing title, she took home almost $6,000 for third place. Not bad at all. We went one-on-one with her after it was all said and done. The video above is about barrel racing and presented by Principal LED.
