Everyone Wanted to Go Fast, Including This Barrel Racer from Levelland
SAN ANGELO, TX — During Saturday, April 17, night's 8th performance of the 2021 San Angelo Rodeo, everyone wanted to go fast!
The Sonora Bank mutton bustin' kids channeling their inner Ricky Bobby's. That term is from Talladega Nights, a movie about race cars. We have highlights in the video above.
Also, speaking of speed, this Montana cowboy Haven Meged clocked the fast time of the rodeo in tie-down roping with a 7.2 second time, just a tenth of a second faster than the legend that is Tuf Cooper.
In barrel racing, Bristan Kennedy, the pride of Levelland, Texas came through with a 14.32-second ride. Barrel racing this year is very fast. If you're not in the 14-three's forget about it. Bristan's two times of 30.43 seconds are good for 5th in the average so far. She may make it into the Short Go on Friday Night, April 23. There are 36 more schedule runs left in the preliminary go-rounds before the finals and the prize money. A series of times higher than Kennedy's could knock her out, but she's sitting fairly safe in 7th place. The Top 12 make it into the finals.
After the run our very own Joe Hyde went one-on-one with the Levelland cowgirl and her horse, Cici (plus Cici's little friend). This wrap-up is presented by Principal LED.
