Tie-Down Roper Ty Harris Headed To Angelo Finals While Barrel Racer Wenda Johnson Cruises There Too

SAN ANGELO, TX — In tie down roping for the 2020 San Angelo rodeo, the fastest time has been 7.2 seconds with 2-round combined time of 15.6 seconds held by Blane Cox. But for the life of these guys on Thursday night, they just could not live up to the hype. When you're up against those low times to make it into the San Angelo rodeo finals, there's no doubt these cowboys were taking big risks to get into Friday's finals, even for the 4-time world champion and San Angelo favorite Tuf Cooper. This was silver lining for San Angelo native Ty Harris because it clinched him the last and final spot in Friday's Short Go which mean's most eyes on the San Angelo kid Friday night.

Meanwhile, what it was for the tie-down ropers it was for the barrel racers, too. This is especially for Amberleigh Moore, a 4-time NFR qualifier. The barrels were not friendly to her. On the other hand the barrels were good to Wenda Johnson, who cleared a 14.38-second time in performance 10 pushing her to the top spot in the average with a total time of 30.16 seconds.
