This Barrel Racer Runs into First Place with Best Average

SAN ANGELO, TX — Her 14.10-second time at the sixth performance of the San Angelo rodeo on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 8, wasn’t the arena record for 2020 but it was close, and it put Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi in the lead spot for barrel racing.

“I have always loved this rodeo. On my old horse, I won it three times,” Tonozzi said.

Brittany raised and trained her latest horse named Katniss.

“It feels good to have a good run and to be back at the Short Go,” Brittany said. The Short Go is on Friday, Feb

She also bred Katniss’ mom that has other offspring who have won over $100,000 in earnings.

Katniss is the offspring of what Brittany called a “Blue Hen Mare.”

As of the end of the 8th Performance Sunday afternoon, Feb. 9, 2020, Tonozzi was in first place with a two-ride combined time of 30.22 seconds. The scores are tight because barrel racer Shannon McReynolds is only 1/10th a second behind with 30.32 seconds. Tonozzi’s 14.10-second run was bested by Tiany Schuster with a 14.05-second run in a previous performance also in the second round.
