San Angelo May be Where Bull Rider McCown's March to this Year's National Finals Began
SAN ANGELO, TX — This Montgomery, Texas bull rider is making some noise at this year’s San Angelo rodeo. During the fifth performance on Friday, Feb. 7, McCown scored an 84 on a bull named Joker’s Wild. McCown has a history with this bull. He told Zoey Hanrahan that he rode him when the bull was a calf.
“I knew he was going to be a little heavy,” McCown said.
McCown placed fifth overall during Sunday’s XTreme Bull Riding with a first round score of an 88. He ended the day in a three-way tie fir fifth place earning over $1,000.
Friday night’s score of an 8 puts McCown in the three-way tie with Ty Wallace and Boudreaux Campbell for third place overall. He has a very good chance of making it to the San Angelo rodeo finals called the Short Go next Friday.
McCown is showing steady, consistent progress this year. Watch for him in the Finals. If he lands in the money, he might be paving a path to his first NFR appearance this year, starting right here in San Angelo!
