San Angelo Stock Show And Rodeo Championship Cook-Off Results

 

SAN ANGELO, TX—The San Angelo Stock Show results, Rodeo Championship Cook-Off, and Kid’s Championship Cook-Off have been announced. 

The championship cook-off started in 2010 to raise money for the scholarship fund and encourage participation in events held during the Stock Show and Rodeo. The event is held on the South end of the 1st Community Federal Credit Union Spur Arena, between it and the old horse barn.

Adult Division Highlights:

  • Poppers: Scott Gideon's "Bigfoot BBQ" team took the championship, with Ronnie Labedelle's "Labedelle BBQ" and Rudy Perez's "Mesquite Heat" following in second and third places, respectively.
  • Chicken: Jason Wall led "Pork' N Ain't Easy" to victory, with Robbie Hilton's "Skillet Lickers" and Rocky Weidner's "Smokin' Horns" rounding out the top three.
  • Ribs: Michael Franke's "C-C BBQ" claimed the top spot, followed by Weston Swafford's "Grillie Nelson" and Robbie Hilton's Skillet Lickers.
  • Brisket: Walter Biel of "Trashed & Burned BBQ" emerged as the champion, with Weston Swafford's Grillie Nelson and Lance Tissue's "Patriot BBQ" in second and third places.

Swafford’s Grillie Nelson was awarded the competition’s grand champion, with Wall’s “Pork’ N Ain’t Easy” taking the Reserve Grand Champion title. Hilton’s “Skillet Lickers” secured the third overall spot.

In the showmanship category, "River Bank BBQ," led by Jimmy Martin and Jason Jackson, showcased superior culinary presentation and skills, earning them the winning title.

Kid’s Championship Cook-Off Results:

The younger chefs demonstrated their culinary skills across two divisions, with the following outcomes:

  • Division 1: Harley Ratliff clinched first place, followed by Adley Wall and Melanie Torres.
  • Division 2: Sheldon Book took the top spot, with Caliber Riggs and Tristan Flint in second and third places, respectively.

Madison Pehl, for Division 1, and Sheldon Book, for Division 2, were bestowed with showmanship awards, highlighting their presentation and culinary abilities.
