SAN ANGELO, TX — So far this spring, Angelo State has received $178,961 in grants and gifts to help fund the ongoing renovations and upgrades to the ASU Rodeo Complex at the San Angelo Fairgrounds, as well as nearly $550,000 in monetary gifts to support operations and fund scholarships for the ASU Rodeo Team.
At the Saturday night performance of the San Angelo Rodeo on April 6, the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo Association Chair Doren Reynolds presented ASU President General Ronnie Hawkins with a check for $50,000 for the Association's Foundation to be applied toward the ASU Rodeo Team scholarship endowment.
The ASU Rodeo Team competes at the Howard County Junior College rodeo event in Big Spring April 11-13. It is the ninth of 10 events on the team's inaugural competition schedule for the 2023-24 season. The final event will be at Tarleton State University April 18-20 in Stephenville.
The ASU Rodeo Team competes in the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association's Southwest Region, which includes teams representing 18 colleges and universities in West Texas and New Mexico.
