Ty Harris Wins RodeoHouston Championship After Tiebreaker With Brother

 

HOUSTON, TX - Ty Harris clinched the tie-down roping championship over his brother Joel in a tiebreaker showdown at RodeoHouston. 

San Angelo native brothers Ty Harris and Joel Harris tied with identical times of 8.2 seconds in the tie-down roping Shootout. This forced a tiebreaking tie-off using the same horse, and older brother Ty came out on top. 

According to information from RodeoHouston, Ty earned $58,000 with a 9.6 at NRG Stadium on Sunday, March 17. 

Joel went first in the Shootout and the championship tiebreaker. But after an 8.2 on his first try, he broke the barrier on the second, leaving him at 19.2. 

Joel left with $27,250 as the second-place finisher. 

In 2023, Ty's world-standing place was 13th, according to his biography from PRCA Rodeo. 

His 2023 earnings came in at approximately $170,235.
