SAN ANGELO, TX — Rodeo fans, it’s almost time for the Cinch Roping Fiesta! The San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo Association will again host the Cinch Roping Fiesta from October 26-29 at the outdoor roping arena at the fairgrounds.
According to the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo Association, the Roping Fiesta in 1954 was a way to help generate revenue for the association in the off-season from the stock show and rodeo. The Roping Fiesta has always been at least a two-day event, though the events featured have varied to include calf roping, team roping, steer wrestling, steer roping, and double mugging.
Big names return again for the Roping Fiesta in 2023, including Caleb Smidt and San Angelo’s own Ty Harris.
This year, there will be a new event that should have everyone in attendance on their feet. The event, Matched Horse Racing, will feature two quarter horses racing in a 450-foot sprint in a time trial. The event will occur on Sunday, October 29, after the Double Mugging finals.

Friday, October 27
- 9:00 am - Introduction of Preliminary Ropers
- 10:00 a.m. - Preliminary Tie Down Roping

- Legends Match, presented by the O-H Triangle Ranch, will be after the final round of the YellowHouse Machinery Match

All events in the 1st Community Credit Union Spur Arena and the vendor show in the Coliseum are free admission. The only ticketed events are the events at the outdoor Fiesta Arena.
