SAN ANGELO, TX – The San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo Association asked fans on social media who they wanted as reigning Cinch Roping Fiesta Champion Caleb Smidt's opponent. The answer was unanimous. Fans want San Angelo native Ty Harris.
In preparations for announcing the lineup of the 2023 Cinch Roping Fiesta, the SASSRA went to social media to find out who their followers wanted in the Saturday night match roping.
"Tell us who you want to see rope against the returning Yellowhouse Machinery Co Match Roping Champion, Caleb Smidt, at Cinch Roping Fiesta this year! Let us know below in the comments," stated the SASSRA post. "We want to hear from YOU!"
The fans answered the call with over 100 comments repeating either 'Ty' or 'Ty Harris.'
The rodeo association still has not officially announced the lineup, but with this move, buzz is building around the event. This year, the Cinch Roping Fiesta's match roping will be followed up with a show by the Eli Young Band.
If both Ty Harris and the Eli Young Band perform on Saturday night, it would be one of the biggest Fiestas in recent history.
The Cinch Roping Fiesta is scheduled for Oct. 26 through Oct. 29 at the outdoor arena at the San Angelo Coliseum. Tickets go on sale on Oct. 2.
