Rodeo Slack Underway for a Spot in the San Angelo Rodeo

SAN ANGELO, TX – With the 91st annual San Angelo Rodeo days away, cowboys and cowgirls are competing in slack rounds to earn their shot in the big dance.

For those who don't know, Slack is a term used in rodeo to describe events that take place prior to the actual beginning of the rodeo. In San Angelo, these events include the barrel racing, tie down roping, team roping, and steer wrestling.

For the 2023 San Angelo Rodeo, the slack competition began on Monday, Mar. 27, 2023 with the barrel racing. On Tuesday morning, Team Ropers filled the coliseum to secure a spot.

Slack will continue until Wednesday with round 2 of the steer wrestling and tie down roping.

Stay tuned all April long for complete coverage of the San Angelo Rodeo presented by Jim Bass Ford.
