Countdown to 2023 San Angelo Rodeo Begins as Dirt Fills the Coliseum

SAN ANGELO, TX — The countdown to the 91st annual San Angelo Rodeo is officially underway as crews filled the coliseum’s floor with dirt.

The crews completed the process early Friday afternoon. At PRCA events, the dirt is around 10 inches deep near the bucking chutes and 8 inches deep near the timed events chutes.

The rodeo begins on Mar. 31, 2023, and ends with the Cinch Shootout on Apr. 15, 2023.  According to the PRCA, last year, competitors earned a total of $658,035. The livestock exhibitors won even more than that, with a total of $1.1 million. This year both of those totals will likely be surpassed.

Rodeo tickets may be sold out already, but San Angelo LIVE! will have extensive coverage every night throughout the event.
