SAN ANGELO, TX – As another rodeo season kicks off Friday, the town is abuzz with visitors from across the state and nation. For a brief few weeks San Angelo becomes the center of the universe for the rodeo community and local businesses enjoy the economic boom brought in by the temporary residents. Restaurants are packed, hotels are full to the brim and local retail shops have the opportunity to show off their local goods that make San Angelo a unique stop in west Texas.
As all good things must come to an end, however, the rodeo will move on in a few weeks and another city will experience the excitement on their own turf. Once the dust settles, one thing remains the same: the staunch support for the San Angelo rodeo continues and local businesses and organizations begin planning for next year's event.
For years First Financial Bank has been a pillar of support for the rodeo. If you attend the performances at the coliseum, you know First Financial sponsors a chute each year. You recognize their logo as you anxiously anticipate that gate opening for another burst of excitement with each ride. But did you know they are an integral part of the Premium Sale for the annual stock show? Each year First Financial supports youth from across the state by helping purchase livestock, with the proceeds of each sale going to pay tuition for the hard working students. First Financial invests in the future of Texas, but their generosity does not end there.
First Financial Bank is a family that invests their time and energy in the rodeo as well. Two of their own, Scott Creecy and Luke Uherik, serve on the board of the Rodeo Association and volunteer their time to help with San Angelo's biggest event. Many of their employees also volunteer their time to helping with the rodeo, through working ticket booths, helping with events and much more.
First Financial Bank has also been an advertiser with San Angelo Live. For the past couple of years they have sponsored our Bull Riding coverage of the rodeo, allowing our reporters to highlight the incredible athletes that climb aboard one-ton (or more) animals to entertain the crowds. First Financial also supports San Angelo Live's local real estate endeavors by keeping an ad on our West Texas Real Estate email which reaches over 13,000 each Sunday. The email includes open house listings for the week and features properties for sale throughout the Concho Valley.
So whether you are out at the rodeo this week or catching the Cinch Chute Out in the finale, be sure to take a moment to recognize First Financial Bank for all they do, not just for the rodeo, but for the community year-round. Their local branches are our friends and neighbors and they care about San Angelo. And for that we thank them.
