SAN ANGELO – For the first time it history, women will compete in an event at the legendary San Angelo Cinch Roping Fiesta this weekend. Ladies Breakaway Roping is set for Thursday morning in the Spur Arena and admission is free.
According to the San Angelo Stock Show & Rodeo Association, the Open Ladies Breakaway will be two full go-rounds with a short-go. The 1st & 2nd Go Round will be held Thursday, October 28 at 10:00 a.m. in the 1st Community Credit Union Spur Arena. All calves will be fresh for the first go, and re-ran in the second go. The 10 head short-go will be held with the Invitational Calf Roping in the Outdoor Arena on Saturday, October 30 at 1:00 p.m. All calves for the short-go will be fresh.
First to enter, last to rope in the 1st Go Round, and the 2nd Go Round will be reserve order. All calves will be chute run.
There is $5,000 added money from American Hat Company and a Buckle for average winner.
All ropers must check in by 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 28 in the entry office located inside the 1st Community Credit Union Spur Arena.
As for the guys, Shad Mayfield and Tuf Cooper will face off in the $20,000 winner-take-all match roping battle this Saturday.
