SAN ANGELO, TX -- Over one million dollars was awarded to the winners of the 2020 San Angelo Live Stock Show during the premium sale Saturday afternoon.
The day started with buyers from businesses all around the Concho Valley crowding into the Gandy Ink Pavilion's side room to buy the top livestock project animals.
The auction began with the Grand Champion Steer. Ava Horne from Abilene earned $38,000. She said this money will be used for her to go to college or start a business in Texas.

Next came the Grand Champion Goat. Hallie Thomas with Peaster FFA said her goat, Dr. Ben Warren, taught her to never give up on her dreams because one day they will come true. Thomas was awarded $13,500.
After the goat came the Grand Champion Barrow with his owner Max Tongate. Tongate plans to use his $13,000 in Lubbock by going to Texas Tech. The main thing he learned this year during the stock show season was "to not stay with your friends, make friends."
The winner of the Grand Champion Lamb Show, Kyndal Edwards, was proud of the way she finished her career in San Angelo. "This has always been a show that has been my favorite to go to," said girl. "I love the atmosphere and the people here so I''m proud I won the show. Her lamb was auctioned off for $20,000.
The big story of the stock show was Concho Valley's own Mason Hutto from Eldorado FFA. He showed the Reserve Grand Champion goat. With his achievement he sold his goat, Plan A, for $20,500. "Since day one we planned to take him to San Angelo," said Hutto when asked why he named his goat Plan A.
Overall this year was a success since the San Angelo Premium Sale set a record by raising over one million dollars.
