The 2025 Mayoral Debate

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Mayoral Candidate's Debate put on by San Angelo LIVE! and the San Angelo Performing Arts Center (SAPAC) was held Friday night, March 28. In all, four of the five candidates participated including Juan Acevedo, Gary Jenkins, Tom Thompson, and Trinidad Aguirre.

The moderators, Joe Hyde of San Angelo LIVE! and Yukio Kuniyuki of SAPAC, led the debate through a variety of topics, including taxing policy, economic development, and the viability of the Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone, or TIRZ.

We need a mayor with the grit and tenacity of an Afghani goat herder—i.e., someone who can get the job done without infinity billion dollars of support that never gets the job done.
