WATCH: San Angelo LIVE! sits down with Texas Tech's Chancellor Ted Mitchell

SAN ANGELO, TX – Texas Tech University Chancellor Ted Mitchell touches specifically on Higher Education in Texas, the foundation of the Veterinary School at Texas Tech, the expansion and growth of Angelo State University, UT’s SEC move.

“I love what Angelo State has been doing, they have demonstrated a real Texas Can Do attitude in regards to outreach and providing for their students’ education and job opportunities.”

Speaking on the Veterinary school which the Chancellor was a part of establishing many years ago, brings up the need for a second dedicated institution in Texas for Veterinary Education, specifically for the care of large farm animals. “In some rural Texas counties there is only one Veterinarian and the average age is gettin up there, we need an influx of the people to care for our agriculture.”

And talking about the University of Texas’ move to the SEC, Chancellor Mitchell says we all need to calm down. “People talk about what’s gonna happen with Texas Tech, if there are going to be any intrastate football games any more. I think we all need to relax and let it all shake out before we scream doomsday.”
