WATCH: Railroad Commissioner Christy Craddock Talks About ERCOT and the Big Freeze
SAN ANGELO, TX – Texas Railroad Commissioner Christy Craddock explains what the Railroad Commission does during an exclusive interview at the West Texas Legislative Summit at Angelo State University. "WE are the most important agency in the state," Craddock explains. "We regulate coal, gas, uranium, and plutonium. Basically we are in charge of how the pipelines flow, how the energy source gets to the power plant"
Our Joe Hyde grills the Commissioner on the recent Freeze out early on in the year. Craddock is proud to say that that they were able to keep their 4,7 million natural gas customers serviced but as everyone know the electricity was a problem. One think the Railroad Commission is working on is talking to other government agencies as well as ERCOT about how to best weatherize the energy system.
Craddock explains the argument for expanding the pipeline system in Texas. "When it comes to natural gas," says the Commissioner. "The more pipeline we lay the less natural gas is flared because it becomes more cost effected to transport the gas to market. The result is less air pollution, better market prices, and more money for drillers."
