WATCH: Meet Mayor Brenda Gunter's Challenger

SAN ANGELO, TX — Based upon the candidate filings so far, the next mayor from the City of San Angelo will be female, but the question is who will it be? Brenda Gunter or Silvara Lawson.

Lawson, a local realtor filed to run for mayor last Friday and in her first interview with the media this afternoon shared her enthusiasm for bringing change to San Angelo.

"I know that she (Brenda Gunter) and everyone has done a great job so far," said Lawson. "But I feel like there can be alternative ways to actually bring about a solution."

Lawson spoke about what inspired her to run for mayor, her ideas on economic development, and housing while addressing a recent comment suggesting that she's a stripper.

So, she agrees with Brenda on most if not all of her political stances, and knows how to say a whole lot of nothing to "answer" a question without actually giving an answer. Wants to bring in Big Tech and a Dirt Bike resort. Wants to stop all the fighting? Besides idiots that call women names and the beef between Tim and Brenda that we are all laughing at, is there some feuding going on that we are missing? I'm not hearing anything that will encourage the kind of people that make the gears on this community turn to vote for her...and there are some good, clear opportunities to pick up slack that Brenda let out. This poor girl is way in over her head and will get eaten alive by the folks that have been in power here for a bit if elected. Surely there is a young, smart person that has the confidence (and brains to back it up) to take strong political positions, give solid answers to questions on economic stance or even just tell us straight where they got their inspiration. We don't care if you are a model, dancer, attorney, janitor, whatever...we care if you're going to fix the dang roads or not.

I always wonder why the roads never really take priority. Also, we have a lot of water main breaks.
