EXCLUSIVE: Mayor Brenda Gunter Says She's Running for Re-Election

SAN ANGELO, TX – Mayor Brenda Gunter revealed last night during San Angelo LIVE!'s election show that she will be running for re-election in 2021.

On Nov. 3, Mayor Gunter sat down with Joe Hyde and answered a number of questions regarding city, county, and national issues.

To end the conversation Hyde asked the question that a number of San Angeloans are wondering. Will Mayor Gunter run for re-election next year?

"I'm going to try to break some news on our broadcast," said Hyde. "Are you going to run for re-election."

"I am." confirmed Mayor Gunter.

In 2017 Mayor Gunter ran on the slogan "cut the red tape." She said under her leadership, she has streamlined the permits operations at the city making it easier to build new homes and commercial projects in the city, but she promised there is still more to come.

"We continue to improve the processes at the city," said Gunter. "Is there still room for improvement? There is always room for improvement but if you talk to the home builders they will say we have simplified the process and people are getting their permits faster."

The City of San Angelo mayoral election will be in May 2021.
